The Collection AINU Limited Edition.
"Ainu" means "human." The Ainu people regard things useful to them or beyond their control as "kamuy"(gods). In daily life, they prayed to and performed various ceremonies forthe gods. The word "Ainu" refers to the opposite of these gods.
First encounters between the Ainu and Europeans took place in 1643 during Dutch sailor Maerten Vries’ voyage in the discovery of the territories north of Japan. He was the first to explore Hokkaido, the Kurile islands and Sakhalin, and to draw a map of this region. The diary of his voyage provide several accounts of his meetings and gives a description of the Ainu
population, their way of life and language. The Ainu are a people with a cultural and racial background which is
different from that of the ethnic Japanese. Ainu who lived in Hokkaido, the Kurile Islands and Sakhalin were called "Hokkaido Ainu", "Kurile Ainu" and "Sakhalin Ainu" respectively. Most
Ainu now live in Hokkaido. According to one of several theories,
the Ainu are descendants of Mongoloid migrants who entered the Japanese islands. They were later displaced and
assimilated, when the ethnic Japanese expanded their territory northern wards. In the Meiji period (1868-1912), the
Ainu received the status of "former aboriginals". In 1997, a new law was passed which provides funds for the research and promotion of Ainu culture such as language, traditional dancing
and various ceremonies.

The collection NAPOLEON Limited Edition. As the Italian Lira fades into history and the Euro becomes the standard of currency, Delta honors Napoleon Bonaparte, Emperor of France and King of Italy as the person responsible for today's single, European currency. Delta is proud to present a collection of spectacular limited edition writing instruments honoring a brilliant historical figure. The Lira was originally called the Libra. It was the Roman measurement of standard weight (325 grams or approximately 1 pound). Although Charlemagne transformed this into an abstract currency, it was Napoleon who envisioned a single currency for Europe. On May 6, 1807, Napoleon wrote to the King of Naples, "Brother, when you issue coins, I would like you to adopt the same valuations as in French money. In this way, there will be uniformity all over Europe which will be a great advantage for trade." The first Lira was coined in the Milan Mint in 1808.
Napoleon's efforts to create a common European currency died with him on the battlefield. The Lira became Italy's national currency after unification in 1860.
The Lira's recent demise marks the true unification of Europe and the realization of Napoleon's dream.
The fountain pens in this very special collection, feature the first piston filling system in Delta's history. Now serious pen enthusiasts can write a little world history of their own.Serial number : 690.
The Collection Giacomo Puccini Limited Edition
Giacomo Puccini was born in Lucca in 1858, Italy, into a family with a long history of music. At age 14 he was a church organist and choirmaster, but it was not until he saw a performance of Verdi’s Aida that he became inspired to be an opera composer. He studied at the Milan Conservatory and in 1882 he wrote a one-act opera, Le Villi that caught the attention of Giulio Ricordi, who commissioned a second opera, Edgar (1889). Manon Lescaut (1893), his third opera, was a great success. It launched his remarkable relationship with the librettists Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa, who collaborated with him on his next three operas: La Boheme (1896), Tosca (1900), Madame Butterfly (1904) Composition was slow after this. In 1910, Puccini completed La fanciulla del West, which he later on thought of as his most powerful opera, and, in 1917, finished the score of La rondine. In 1918, Il Trittico premiered in New York. This work is composed of three one-act operas: a horrific episode (Il Tabarro), in the style of the Parisian Grand Guignol, a sentimental tragedy (Suor Angelica) and a comedy or farce (Gianni Schicchi). Of the three, Gianni Schicchi is the most popular. He died on November 29, 1924. Another composer finished Turandot, his last opera, but when it was performed the orchestra stopped, the performers froze in position and the
conductor turned to the audience and said: “Here the opera finishes, because at this point the Maestro died”.
